The return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the United Kingdom has sparked considerable discussion. Everyone was curious whether their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, would accompany them. The possibility of the entire family meeting with King Charles III and Queen Camilla was also a topic of conversation. Another question pertained to what public appearances the Sussexes might make together after a four-year absence.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a series of photographs from the trip on Instagram. The post appeared on July 23rd with the caption “Summer Holiday.” In one of the snapshots, Prince Harry, seven-year-old Archie, and five-year-old Lilibet are seen walking along an avenue lined with trees on the Althorp estate. This is the Spencer family’s ancestral home where Princess Diana grew up. Harry and the children were photographed from behind, carrying large bouquets of flowers. It is highly probable that the family visited Diana’s grave, situated on an island in the middle of the Oval Lake within the estate grounds.

During their visit, the Sussex family stayed at Althorp itself, located in Northamptonshire. It is one of England’s most renowned historic estates. Harry, Meghan, and their children were guests there at the invitation of Prince Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer. The estate spans over 5,260 hectares, and Althorp has been owned by the Spencer family for more than 500 years. Diana, then Spencer, resided there from her parents’ divorce until her marriage to King Charles. A temple in the Doric style, inscribed with Diana’s name, stands at her burial site.

The estate’s website indicated that it would be closed to visitors on July 10th and 11th. Consequently, many speculated that Harry, Meghan, and their children were present during these dates. For Meghan Markle, this marked her first visit to the United Kingdom in over four years. In 2020, she relocated to Montecito, California, for permanent residence. However, Meghan had visited Althorp before. In his memoir “Spare,” Prince Harry recounted bringing her there for the 25th anniversary of his mother’s passing. “I finally brought the girl of my dreams home to meet my mother,” he wrote.

During the trip, Prince Harry participated in a number of charitable events. He also supported the promotional campaign for the Invictus Games, which are scheduled to take place in Birmingham next year. It was reported that Harry and his family were expected to stay at one of the royal residences. However, due to communication issues between the palace and the Sussexes’ team, this plan fell through. Meghan and the children’s arrival also had to be postponed due to concerns for their safety. It became known that the family would not be provided with state-funded security. Furthermore, upon Harry’s arrival, the decision in his legal case against Associated Newspapers was announced. Despite these circumstances, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet did indeed travel to the United Kingdom. During their visit, the family also met with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The last time they saw their grandchildren was in 2022.

In other photographs from Instagram, Meghan showcased their family vacation in Portugal. In one shot, she is seen laughing with Harry during a dinner. In another, Archie is seated in an airplane cockpit. A further image depicts Harry tossing Lilibet in a swimming pool. Meghan also shared a photo with their dog. One of the frames, taken on a beach, notably evokes old summer photographs of Princess Diana.
